MG iSMART alternatives
Can you use an alternative to the MG iSMART app?
By QuietDrive · · 2 min read
If you’ve stood by the front door waiting for iSMART to respond, you’ll know why someone would try another app. Checking the car or starting the heating should be a quick job. When the screen won’t update, you’re left wondering whether anything happened at all.
That frustration came through in early feedback from MG owners, including people who were happy with iSMART’s features but wanted it to respond sooner. QuietDrive is an independent alternative for iPhone and Android, started by an MG owner who wanted a better everyday experience.
Make the basics less frustrating
QuietDrive brings clearer vehicle views, supported controls and saved history into one place. The aim is an app that feels easier to get around, with more useful features and connections to the rest of your phone.
QuietDrive also makes more of the car’s information easier to find: tyre pressures, cabin temperature, charging details and the 12 V reading, where available. Saved journeys and charges give you a history to look back on. In the beta discussions, owners specifically asked for richer information and widgets so a quick check didn’t always mean opening the full app.
Supported controls bring climate temperature, airflow and front defrost together. On iPhone, Siri and routines can handle common climate and charging jobs. Charging costs, trip planning and service records sit alongside those everyday functions. The point is to make more of what you need available in an app that’s easier to use.
MG’s service still matters
QuietDrive uses MG’s servers. A better app can improve the experience around a request, but it cannot make an offline car reply or fix an MG outage. There’s no promise of an instant refresh every time. The reasons to choose it are the interface, the wider set of features and integrations, and how they fit together.
What about safety?
QuietDrive protects your saved MG sign-in with encryption. On iPhone, locking and unlocking always require fresh Face ID or Touch ID. It limits repeated checks to help protect the car’s 12 V battery, although these precautions cannot guarantee battery safety.
You can remove your MG sign-in when you no longer want QuietDrive to contact the car; the privacy notice explains the details. It’s still a beta, with features varying by model, account region and phone platform. You can try it with sample data before connecting your own MG.
